Rooted in Christ

22 Oct

What do we do when everything we hold dear is being uprooted?  Where do we find stability?  Only in one person; Jesus Christ.   To thrive in an uncertain world we must root ourselves in Him.

Colossians 2:6-7

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,  having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith,  just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.

Psalms 1

Colossians2_6_7How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.

Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.

He will be like a tree firmly planted by steams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season

And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.

The wicked are not so,  But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.

The Authority of Scripture

The law is perfect: Psalms 19:7

The law of the LORD is perfect,

Restoring the soul;

The testimony of the LORD is sure,

Making wise the simple.

Psalms 19:7

It is pure – Psalms 19:8

The precepts of the LORD are right,

Rejoicing the heart;

The commandments of the LORD is pure,

Enlightening the eyes.

Psalms 19:8

Endures forever – Psalms 19:9

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;

The judgments of the LORD are true;

They are righteous altogether.

Psalms 19:9

The perpetuity of the Word – Matthew 22:31,32 / Matthew 19:4-6

“But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: I AM THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, AND THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

And He answered and said, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE,

“So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

Matthew 19:4-6

The Sufficiency of Scripture – Isaiah 55:11 / Psalms 119:11- 16, 2 Tim. 3:16,17, Matt. 4:4, Hebrews 4:12, John 6:63

So will My word be which goes forth from my mouth;

It will not return to Me empty,

Without accomplishing what I desire,

And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11

Your word I have treasured in my heart,

That I may not sin against You.

Blessed are You, O LORD;

Teach me Your statutes.

With my lips I have told of

All the ordinances of Your mouth.

I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies.

As much as in all riches,

I will mediate on Your precepts

And regard Your ways.

I shall delight in Your statutes;

I shall not forget Your word.

Psalms 119:11-16

All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.     2 Tim 3:16,17

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.’”      Matthew 4:4

For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.      Hebrews 4:12

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. John 6:63

The Bible the Word of God  – Hebrew 6:18, John 17:17, Proverbs 30:5

God can not lie

So that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.     Hebrews 6:18

“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.     John 17:17

Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.     Proverbs 30:5

The Infallibility of Scripture – Matthew 5:18, Isaiah 40:8

“For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Matt. 5:18

The grass writhers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8

How Blessed

11 Jun

How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust.
And has not turned to the proud, nor
to those who lapse into falsehood.
Many, O LORD my God, are the
wonders which You have done,
And Your thoughts toward us;
There is none to compare with You.
If I would declare and speak of them,
They would be too numerous to count.
Psalms 40:4,5

A Peaceful Moment

18 Mar

At the heart of peace is harmony. To be at peace with someone–a family member, a neighbor or God, means to be in harmony with them, in relationship. When we ask Christ to cleanse us of our sins and make us a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) we are asking for peace, a new harmonious relationship with our Creator.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.     2Cor. 5:17-19

Peace of mind and heart comes from asking God (the source of peace) to live in you, helping you to understand this world with it’s problems, than you can navigate through any chaos because you know God is ultimately in control.

To find this harmony and peace of mind, you must ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and make you clean in God’s sight. Peace with God comes from living the way you were created to live. When you develop a relationship with your Creator, and live by the standards He has written in His word, the Bible, you will experience God’s peace as your mind, heart, and actions are aligned with His instructions. God’s peace is a gift, it is not earned. (Ephesians 2:8,9) Peace comes from knowing and living according to God’s word. His wisdom and direction guide you and lead you away from conflict, compromise, and deception.

Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

The Resurrection of Jesus

24 Mar

john11_25-26The angel said to the woman, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.  “He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said.  Come, see the place where He was lying. “Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.”

Matthew 28:5-7

Without the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, there would be no Christianity.  Just as Jesus promised He rose from the dead. Because of this we can be confident that all his promises are true. Jesus bodily resurrection from the dead is proof that He was no false prophet. He had power over death. The resurrection is the basis for our faith because Jesus proved to be more than just a human leader, He is the Son of God.

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.  Do you believe this?”  John 11:25,26

Now if Christ is preached, that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?  But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain. Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.  For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.    1 Corinthians 15:12-17

There were eyewitness accounts that Jesus rose from the dead. The apostles risked being martyred for preaching the truth of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Millions of lives have been changed because of this life changing message of what Jesus did at the Cross, that He suffered, and died and rose again and is alive today!

Christ’ sacrifice on the cross  accomplished God’s plan.  Our sins are forgiven, and we will live forever with Jesus in Heaven.  Without the Resurrection of Jesus from the dead, there would be no Christianity. Jesus’ Resurrection is central to our faith because it demonstrates God’s power over death and assures us believers that one day that we also will be resurrected. His resurrection is the beginning of eternal life for all who believe in Him.

God Helps those who Seek Him

26 Oct

Psalms 121

I will lift up my eyes to the hills

From whence comes my help?

My help comes from the LORD,

Who made heaven and earth.

He will not allow your foot to be moved;

He who keeps you will not slumber.

Behold, He who keeps Israel

Shall neither slumber nor sleep

The LORD is your keeper,

The LORD is your shade at your right hand.

The sun shall not strike you by day,

Nor the moon by night.

The LORD shall preserve you from all evil;

He shall preserve your soul.

The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in

From this time forth, and ever forevermore.

Christ Is Risen

Song: Christ is Risen Link:

“But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.  For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming, “ 1 Corinthians 15:20-23

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”  Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”  Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”  John 11:23-26

And Jesus answered them, saying “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me, and where I am, there My servant will be also; If anyone serves Me the Father will honor him.  John 12:23-26

 “The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.  He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said.  Come, see the place where He was lying.   Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you.” Matthew 28:5-7

 O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH WHERE IS YOUR STING?”  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law: but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. “  1 Corinthians 15:55:58
