The Faithful Christian life is a Battle

21 May

If we are walking faithfully and worthy of our calling,  If we show humility, rather then being prideful, if we promote truth in unity, instead of building unity with compromise to the truth,   then we won’t be guilty of causing divisiveness.

If we are walking in the newness of Christ, and putting on the new man in Christ rather then the old, and share the love of Christ, rather then participate in darkness.  And if we share with others, rather then being selfish and self-serving, then without a doubt we are going to face opposition and conflict.  The faithful Christian life is a battle, and will be- until we go home to be with the Lord. We are reminded over and over again in scripture to take courage, and be strong. God is more powerful then our problems or our enemies.

The first thing we do is draw our strength from God and His Word. That is our first line of defense.  1 John 4:4,5 says; ” You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you, then he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them.”

We must put on the armor of light.  As believers we surrender ourselves to Christ control.  God’s word says in Romans 13:13,14 ” Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy, But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.”

When we believe the Truths in God’s Word and act on them, and live them out, we have the advantage in the battle against evil.  God’s word teaches us to be loyal to God, and lean on his strength.  We hold up “The Shield of Faith” to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.  God’s Word and the power of the Holy Spirit are our resources in how we overcome evil.  We hold tightly to the shield of faith to withstand the forces that come against us.  We stand firm against all the devils strategies.

Ephesians 6:16  “in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.”

Even though it may seem like the wicked prosper, and it seems evil people do what ever they want,

Jeremiah 12:1,2  says; “… Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease? You have planted them, they have also taken root; they grow, they have even producted fruit. You are near to their lips but far from their mind.

But, a day of reckoning is coming.

Romans 2:5-8 “But because of your stubbornness and un-repentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelaion of the righteous judgment of God, who will render to each person according to his deeds: to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
